research studies

The Spinal Injury Foundation  (SIF) funds research into the diagnosis, treatment, and management of chronic spinal injury.  It's goal is to seed projects which will be able to eventually apply for National Institutes for Health (NIH) funding.  SIF does not pay for medical care rendered as part of a research project.  SIF does pay for research coordination, study design, and statistical analysis.

Research topics include:

  • Thoracic Allodynia

  • Cervical Instability: Proliferant versus Steroid Injections

  • Cervical Translation Block

  • SI Joint Instability: Proliferant versus Steroid Injections

  • Cervical Flexion/Extension Radiographs

  • Cervicogenic Dizziness

  • Cervical Video Fluoroscopy Imaging in a Normal Population

  • Visual Coordination in a Whiplash Population

  • Mesenchymal Stem Cell Transplants to Human IVD

institutional review board

The Spinal Injury Foundation (SIF) runs a Department of Health and Human Services registered Institutional Review Board (IRB).  The purpose of the SIF IRB is to protect the rights of human subjects involved in it's own funded research as well as research funded through other means.  The IRB meets quarterly to review applications.  The fee is a $500 donation to the Foundation.
